2021 Hyundai Sonata Limited: Moonlight never looked this good

The tale of the tape

\"\"

The Hyundai Sonata Limited is the top-tier trim of five available to the non-hybrid model. Base MSRP is $33,950, $34,469 as tested during the week it was with me.

Once you step up to the Limited, your options are limited to the accessories available, as it has everything else you could ever want in this midsize sedan. This example arrived with just two options: the Calypso Red paint ($350), and the trunk/floor carpet mat package ($169). A set of 18-inch alloys wrapped in Pirelli P-Zero all-seasons grace the corners.

Under the hood is the 1.6L turbo-four found in all but the Sonata N-Line; the N-Line features a 2.5L turbo-four instead. Output amounts to 180 hrsprs and 195 lb-ft of torque going to the front alone, compared the N-Line\’s 290 horses and 311 trqs.

If this engine looks familiar, that\’s because it\’s the same one found in the Kia K5 GT-Line I reviewed previously; Hyundai is the parent company of Kia.

Three interior options are available to the Sonata Limited, including the black leather interior complementing this Calypso Red example. A 10.25-inch touchscreen houses both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, accessible via connection to the USB data port in the center console. Wireless charging will keep your friend\’s phone ready to go if so equipped; if not, the second USB port under the console can handle the job.

Finally, for those sunny days and moonlit nights, a panoramic sunroof is available with a push of a button above the center console. And with Sirius XM and the 12-speaker Bose system, you can play the perfect sonata to go with the view.
