The Tale of the Tape
The 2022 Hyundai Tucson Limited is the top trim of the Tucson family, which also includes the SE, SEL, and the new-for-2022 N Line. MSRP starts at $36,200, $37,580 total sticker as tested during the week it was with me.
As with the Sonata Limited and Sonata Hybrid Limited reviewed earlier in 2021, the Tucson Limited leaves few options to check on the order form. The largest among them is the $1,500 HTRAC all-wheel drive option, which this Portofino Gray example is so equipped; it also has a set of carpeted floor mats, which will set you back $195.
No matter which trim level you choose, though, the 2022 Tucson receives but one engine: a 2.5L inline-four capable of 187 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque. An eight-speed automatic directs the power to the front or the corners, depending on which configuration you chose at the dealer. A set of 19-inch alloys shod in Michelin Primacy A/S all-seasons connect the power to the road.
Inside, a pair of 10.25-inch screens greet the driver and front passenger. The center stack unit is a touchscreen equipped with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus a three-month trial of Sirius XM satellite radio. The driver side unit is a TFT instrument panel with various pages full of all the info the driver could need. Safety features include forward collision-avoidance, lane-keeping and lane-following assist, blind spot collision-avoidance, rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance, and a full suite of airbags with rollover sensors.
Leather-trimmed seating for five is available in either gray or black, all of it underneath a panoramic sunroof to let all the sunshine in. Rear passengers also receive a pair of rear vents, plus a pair of USB ports to keep their devices charged. Up front, a wireless charging pad under the center stack awaits any phone so capable of such a feat.
