National Corvette Museum 25th Anniversary

At the other end of August 2019, another big milestone was celebrated: the National Corvette Museum\’s 25th anniversary. This silver celebration came with quite the anniversary gift: a visit by the all-new, C8-era Corvette.

The star of the 25th anniversary could be found in a few places, from the travelling promotional tour setup just outside of the museum, to one of the final pre-production prototypes taking up permanent residence in the museum\’s skydome.

The celebration also marked a closing of one chapter, and the start of a new one, as the long-serving president of the museum, Wendell Strode, will leave his post at the start of the 2020s. His successor, Dr. Sean Preston, will then take the torch into the NCM\’s golden years.

Glass Eye Ensemble & Purion Parker

Once upon a time, I met a man who I would ultimately consider one of my brothers for what he did for me on one of the worst days of my life. He would later go on to co-found an art collective with another local artist, while still working on his own portraiture art.

Thus, I would make the trip into Louisville twice to see my brother, Purion Parker, in 2019. In February, it was at the newly relocated Tim Faulkner Gallery for the debut of Glass Eye Ensemble\’s first project, The Dance by Kentucky\’s poet laureate, Ron Whitehead, featuring Sheri Streeter.

In early July, I returned to check out Parker\’s latest solo exhibit at another gallery in Louisville, Art Sanctuary. I look forward to the day when the world sees the talent and eye he possesses.
