Nissan Skyline R32
A sight not too common on U.S. roads, but a likely one in Christiansburg. This black R32-era Skyline (a GTS coupe whose specific trim I don\’t know) might\’ve been one of a handful of Skylines brought over from Japan by Duncan Imports & Classics; I wrote about this small-town gem for Hagerty, if you\’d like to learn more about it.
Speaking of gems, this black diamond was just the second classic Skyline I\’ve seen on the road. The other was also a black R32, which hung out in the shopping center parking lot near where I last lived in Louisville.
Nissan GT-R
Parked next to the Skyline is its bigger, younger successor, the GT-R. At this point in time, the high-performance Nissan had been in production for just over a decade, snapping necks of British motoring presenters with the power of its hand-built 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6.
Seeing a GT-R in person is, too, a rarity. I can recall just one or two others prior to this show, all unmodded (as far as I knew, anyway).
Nissan Figaro
On the other end of the performance scale is one of Duncan Imports\’ most popular Nissan, the Figaro. The retro-modern fixed-profile convertible came in four colors — each representing Japan\’s interpretation of the seasons — and was made only for the 1991 model year.
The Figaro was also a limited-edition model, with just over 20,000 examples made. It was among a quartet of small, limited-edition, retro-modern cars made for Japan by Nissan during the height of the country\’s economic bubble between 1986 and 1991.
