A Note from the Highway: The following photos were originally shared on my personal Instagram around the time of the event, and a month or so thereafter.
While we\’re slowly coming out of hibernation from the COVID-19 pandemic, though, I figured it would be a fine time to again look back on a day when things were right on the Highway.
During the first weekend of August 2019, I had only one thing on my mind: street rods. I was in my old Old Kentucky home of Louisville to cover the 50th anniversary of the National Street Rod Association Street Rod Nationals for the Chilton DIY Manuals blog.
Okay. I also made a quick trip down to Bowling Green to interview the new and retiring presidents of the National Corvette Museum about the museum\’s upcoming 25th anniversary later that month for Corvette Forum. But otherwise, it was all street rods on my mind.
Until, that is, my friend Julie — who you might remember from the 2020 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro review — told me about a happening at a coffee shop near where she lived at the time.
One involving coffee.
And cars.
