Throwback: NSRA Street Rod Nationals 50th Anniversary

After squeezing myself and the Maxima into a different spot out back on my second and final day at the Nationals, I eventually made my way outside to see some of the thousands of cars parked all over the expo center grounds.

The first journey took me around the front of the center itself, where all sorts of stunning machines were ready for the cameras of everyone attending. There were even a few up for sale; thus, one could walk into the Nationals, cut a check, and drive away the proud owner of a new ride.

While dozens of rides soaked up the sun near the expo center, hundreds more did the same in the parking lots. From custom big rigs to badass street rods, as long as it was 25 years of age or older, it was welcome to the big extravaganza in front of Kentucky Kingdom; some owners likely visited the park to ride the roller coasters, too.

Speaking of roller coasters, though, there was a happening out behind the expo center, where one could be encouraged to see what their rides could really do if given the chance.

If anyone was brave enough to do so, they could bring their street rods to the NSRA Streetkhana. There, one signed up to take a swing through the cones in as quick a time as their ride could move.

Of course, some could also let someone else take them around. Thus, they signed up for a wild ride inside a Mustang; yours truly never got the chance while at the Nationals, alas.

There were so many cars and trucks gathered at the expo center, it would take several more pages to present all of my faves. Instead, here\’s a few of them.
